Which is more cost-effective, fiber fabric ducts or traditional metal ducts?

2026-04-01
In the construction process, the fiber fabric ducts are produced in the factory in a standardized manner, eliminating the need for secondary processing on-site. This results in a fast installation speed and low labor costs. In contrast, metal ducts require on-site cutting, welding, and fabrication of flanges, which involves complex procedures, a long construction period, and a large number of workers.

In terms of operating energy consumption, fabric ducts can provide uniform air distribution, avoiding local undercooling or overheating, and the energy consumption of the fan is lower; metal ducts rely on terminal devices such as diffusers and air outlets to supply air, with concentrated airflow, which is prone to local undercooling or overheating, and thus has higher energy consumption.

In terms of maintenance and management, fabric ducts can be disassembled in modules and washed directly by machine, making them particularly suitable for high-cleanliness environments such as those in food and pharmaceutical industries. On the other hand, the interior of metal ducts is difficult to clean, prone to accumulating dust and breeding bacteria, and the maintenance cost is high.
